Mr George Reid - keen rugby player who broke his leg early 1963. You did not want to get the tawse from this man! I had three - one of which I was entirely innocent and was not even in the room when the noise took place. One was for forgetting my hygiene jotter - I never forgot it again! Moved to another school not long after.

Mr Melrose - a very fair and decent man that I liked. He lived on Greenhill Avenue and had a sizeable family. Moved to Glaisnock Street, Cumnock and taught at Cumnock Academy for the remainder of teaching career. At Town School I think he would have to teach more than one subject.

Mr Matt Todd - Gave me some extra help for an exam so I can't say anything against him. Moved to Cumnock Academy and eventually became Head Teacher at Garden Rose P.S. Maybole. My wife has pointed out that he taught her 1961-62 at Cumnock Academy.

Miss Morton - or Wee Mo as we knew her was from Auchinleck and I believe eventually taught at Cumnock Academy & Auchinleck Academy.

The teacher hiding under the hat could be Mr Colin Hope who later moved to Auchinleck Academy

I think the photo may have been taken in 1964. Interestingly, when Mr Reid was off he was replaced by Bert Jess, a relation of Alex Jess. I have also just discoverd that Bert Jess and George Reid attended the Scottish Physical Education College at the same time.
